The selections include films by Kawawada Emma, who worked as Kore-eda HirokazuŌĆÖs assistant director, and Katayama Shinzo, former assistant director of director Bong Joon Ho and who was invited to the competition section of the 26th Busan International Film Festival for his film Missing (2021). The program also showcases films by directors who have been invited and awarded by prestigious film festivals all over the world. ŌĆśDiscovering New Japanese CinemaŌĆÖ will highlight the work of ten directors, including Kiyohara Yui, Kusano Natsuka, Fujimoto Akio, Harumoto Yujiro, Sugita Kyoshi, and Igarashi Kohei.
