On October 26 at 1 a.m. KST, SM Entertainment drew explosive attention from global music fans as they dropped a video and image of their highly-anticipated upcoming girl groupŌĆÖs logo. Later that same morning, SM officially announced the group name as aespa and revealed that they will be making their official debut next month. aespa is a combination of ŌĆ£├”,ŌĆØ which comes from the words ŌĆ£avatar,ŌĆØ ŌĆ£experience,ŌĆØ and ŌĆ£aspect.ŌĆØ The name also symbolizes the worldview of ŌĆ£being able to experience a new world through another avatar of yourself.ŌĆØ Starting with the logo, SM plans to reveal more information and its members one by one, heating up the atmosphere for their debut. Meanwhile, aespa is SMŌĆÖs first new group since NCT (debut in 2016) and their first girl group since Red Velvet (debut in 2014).
