It is the first time that the Military Manpower Administration (MMA) has made a position on the issue of BTS membersŌĆÖ military service. MMA officially announced its position, citing the National AssemblyŌĆÖs decision in November last year. ŌĆ£At the time, we decided to exclude the inclusion of art personnel in the field of popular pop culture from the review because it does not fit the overall stance of reducing alternative service and the governmentŌĆÖs basic position to enhance fairness and equity in the execution of military service. The decision remains unchanged.ŌĆØ On November 21 last year, the government finalized ŌĆ£plans to improve the alternative military service systemŌĆØ that maintains the alternative service system for art and sports personnel but does not include pop culture artists, explaining that this is a measure that ŌĆ£considered fairness and equity in fulfilling military duty.ŌĆØ However, MMA has left open the possibility of discussing the postponement of enlistment.
