I Ve Got Vaccinated Kim Jung Uno Bts Parody Skit Provokes Racism Allegations For Chilean Comedy Show

On April 11th, the Chilean comedy show Mi Barrio aired a racist parody sketch about the worldwide megastars. In the skit, actors dressed up as BTS members and made jokes mocking the Korean language. The show further made fun out of North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un. For example, when the host asked the actorsŌĆÖ names, they answered, ŌĆ£Kim Jong-Uno,ŌĆØ ŌĆ£Kim Jong-Dos,ŌĆØ ŌĆ£Kim Jong-Tres,ŌĆØ ŌĆ£Kim Jong-Cuatro,ŌĆØ and ŌĆ£Juan Carlos.ŌĆØ The host laughed at them and added, ŌĆ£You just added numbers on the North Korean leaderŌĆÖs name!ŌĆØ When the host asked for their real names, comedians introduced themselves as ŌĆ£V, Jungkook, August D, J-Hope, and Jin.ŌĆØ Later, one of the actors said some gibberish in Chinese-sounding words then translated it as ŌĆ£IŌĆÖve got vaccinated.ŌĆØ Though everyone at the scene burst into waves of laughter, he was disparaging Asians. By the next day, BTSŌĆÖs fan base ARMY shared some details about the incident. The hashtag ŌĆ£#RacismIsNotComedyŌĆØ began trending and soon ranked first on the trending topic on Twitter in the United States. Such a racist parody is all the more disappointing as the act released a powerful statement against anti-Asian crimes just weeks ago.
