On February 28th, Jeon SoyeonŌĆÖs agency, Cube Entertainment, released the following statement: ŌĆ£After the episode went on air, we immediately noticed some melodies of ŌĆ£SunŌĆØ that sounded similar to those of ŌĆ£Wave.ŌĆØ Jeon Soyeon then spoke directly to the showrunner about the situation and made an apology regarding the matter.ŌĆØ Cube continued, ŌĆ£In that sense, we thought giving proper credit to the original writer is crucially important. So, Soyeon had a conversation with the producer and sent a request to her albumŌĆÖs production company to modify the credits on ŌĆ£SUN.ŌĆØ However, an hour before the songŌĆÖs release, the writerŌĆÖs agency (KQ Entertainment) expressed disapproval of the idea. We then immediately contacted the production to cancel our request, but the track was released with our initial demand for the credit. Once again, we sincerely apologize for making a change in the credits without having the consent of the original songwriter and his agency. We can assure you that this kind of incident will not happen again in the futureŌĆØ. ŌĆ£SUNŌĆØ was released on February 27th, the day MBC aired My Teenage GirlŌĆÖs final episode. Back then, Jeon Soyeon and Poptime were the only artists named in the credit. However, soon after, people noticed the similarity of its chorus to ATEEZŌĆÖs song WAVE, and the name ŌĆ£Eden-aryŌĆØ on the songŌĆÖs credit fueled the fire to the plagiarism allegations. Source (1)
