YG Entertainment stated, ŌĆ£BLACKPINK is gearing up for their special stage appearance at this yearŌĆÖs Video Music Awards. The group and staff members are putting their best effort into creating a meaningful moment for BLINKs from all over the world.ŌĆØ MTVŌĆÖs Video Music Awards is one of the four major music shows in the United States, along with the Grammy Awards, the Billboard Music Awards, and the American Music Awards. BLACKPINK is the first K-pop girl group to join the performer lineup for this yearŌĆÖs event and the fourth among all female groups, including TLC, Spice Girls and Fifth Harmony, to make their appearance on the show. Two years ago, BLACKPINK won the Song of the Summer award for their mega-hit song, ŌĆ£How You Like ThatŌĆØ. This year, the group was nominated for Best Metaverse Performance for hosting PUBG ĀMobile Ā2022 In-Game Concert, while Lisa got a separate nomination for Best K-Pop (ŌĆ£LALISAŌĆØ).
